"Having owned an RD350LC 20 years ago, I once again wanted another, but not like the LC that I had back then, so I bought an unfinished project from eBay. I needed an expert to look over it, so after much research I came across Simon Thompson of 70's- 80's Restorations. For me if someone is going to build and restore my dream bike, communication is paramount, either by email, text message, phone call, or in person. Well Simon delivered on all accounts. His attention to detail is second to none, and knowledge of this bike and others is vast. When the bike was finished, I was very happy with it, any teething problems I had, Simon very quickly sorted them out. Even his after care service is first class. Once again Simon, many thanks!"-- Olly, 02/11/2012

" Hi Simon, just taken delivery of the bike and it looks amazing just waiting for the rain to stop so I can take her out for our first spin together. Thanks for doing such a great job I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to any one else who needs a bike like mine sorting, Thanks Again "-- David Baynham, 12/04/2013

"I bought the RG in 2000 and ran it around for 3 years before one of the disc valves disintegrated and blew the engine. The bike was in usable condition when I bought it, but I planned to restore the bike at some point, this was my cue, I thought. I had the engine rebuilt by Stan Stephens, and I started attacking various jobs and collecting parts to get the restoration underway. The plan was to get the mechanicals sorted first, then the rolling chassis and lastly, the cosmetics. Unfortunately, as is the way with many restorations, other priorities and a lack of time meant that progress was very slow. It seemed like every time I started a job, I found 3 more things wrong that needed fixing! The key moment was spring 2013, when we were about to move house, and I thought I really need to do something with the RG one way or the other. As I really did not want to let it go, I contacted Simon at 70s-80s Restorations. I wanted him to collect, strip and check the engine. It had been sat in th"-- Mark Philips, 29/06/2014

"This was the second of two LCs built for me by Simon and I would just like to say many thanks to him for all his hard work and attention to detail put into each bike. At all times I was kept up to date with the progress of the project. There were regular meetings either by phone or by person to discuss any design points which were always overcome in a professional manner. If you are looking for a one-off motorcycle or a restoration I would recommend talking to Simon "-- Crispin Fuggle, 30/06/2014

"I purchased a rg400 back in march 2014 and well the bike was being imported I sourced all the parts to convert it to RGV complete front end and GSXR rear. I needed someone with a very good reputation to do the work for me, then I came across Simon Thompson of 70s 80s restorations in practical sports bike magazine. I contacted Simon as regards what I wanted to do to the RG and arranged a date to get the bike to him. During the conversion Simon kept me very well informed as to how the work was going, and called me to discuss any issues with the bike. When I collected the bike the work done on it has been done to a very high standard and with great thought. If you are looking for someone to restore or modify your bike I wouldn't look any further than Simon. "-- Tony Allen, 31/01/2015
